L'Éco-refuge des Max

Who are we ? We are Maxine and Maxime from Le Chantier des Max. Two years ago, we left everything to embark on a new project: self-building our little paradise together. We fell in love with a 2-hectare plot of land in Normandy (France) and a few months later, our wooden house and garage were born. But what's the point of enjoying all of this if we don't share it? We therefore decided to document our adventures on social networks under the name “Le Chantier des Max” to show our day-to-day difficulties and construction site successes. In addition to that, we want to make as many people as possible enjoy our green and biodiversity setting, which is why we launched “L’Éco-refuge des Max”. The Eco-refuge Both sensitive to the preservation of the planet, respect for biodiversity and reasoned consumption, we had the idea of sharing these values by creating a refuge both for fauna and flora, but also for people looking for a nature break, without compromising on comfort. The guest houses It is in an approach to preserving the environment and a return of biodiversity to our land that the guest houses were born in our mind. Inside, guests will have a 30 square meters space composed of a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with shower and toilet as well as a bedroom area with large double bed and quality bedding. Each guest house will benefit from a private garden hidden from view with a terrace and Nordic bath. The Nordic bath is an ecological alternative to the swimming pool or jacuzzi because it is heated by a wood fire and does not consume electricity. It can therefore be used to cool off in summer as well as during a cozy evening in winter. You will be able to walk freely in the common areas on more than one hectare of land: pond and river, edible forest, pastures where there will be sheep, goats and chickens, pétanque court, vegetable garden, etc. You will also enjoy a large number of activities nearby. Where are we ? The Eco-refuge is located in Normandy, France, on the border of Calvados and Orne and more precisely in “Suisse normande”. Why this name? Quite simply to distinguish itself from Normandy, often associated with beaches, large agricultural fields and half-timbered houses. It is a region very appreciated by hikers (GR Pays de Tour de la Suisse Normande elected GR favorite of the French 2023), cyclists (Vélo Francette), but also horse riders, lovers of sensations or sporting activities (canoeing-kayak, paragliding, via ferrata, tobogganing on rails, rail bike, etc.), history buffs (many castles and historic sites to visit) or lovers of beautiful landscapes (La Roche d'Oêtre, Clécy, etc.). Your role to play To make all of this happen, we had the idea of launching this pre-reservation campaign. This will help us anticipate the popularity that our guest houses might have and above all allow us to finance the construction and fitting out of all the spaces intended for guests. So, by pre-booking one or more nights in our guest houses now: you allow yourself a future stay to discover a region that deserves to linger there; you benefit from an advantageous rate on the price of the night; you help us realize our dream by allowing us to maintain our autonomy and a certain financial independence; you support a young company eager to make things happen at the local level and inspire as many people as possible; you are participating in an environmentally friendly approach. What are the next steps ? Once the pre-reservation campaign is completed, if we have obtained the necessary funds, we will be able to start the construction of at least one of the three guest houses. We will finance the work thanks to pre-reservations and will keep you informed of their progress, particularly via our social networks thanks to regular videos and publications (@LeChantierDesMax). Once the guest houses are completed, you will receive an email with your voucher allowing you to reserve the dates of your stay, at no additional cost.
