In the most hostile environments, mosses provide a basis which allows the growth of other plant organisms.

In addition to being the country of origin of Bára Sigfúsdóttir, Iceland has established itself as an ideal location for photographic research by the richness and uniqueness of its nature particularly with its volcanic landscapes.

We decided to do two weeks of research from May 22 to June 4 in Iceland. These dates were chosen for the particular natural light at this time of year.

© Aëla Labbé - Matter , Brittany 2015

© Aëla Labbé - National Park of Abisko , Swedish Lapland 2015

The body is what binds us

As we the three of us are movers, dancers-performers-choreographers.

Recently we performed together at the opening of my photographic exhibition at STUDIO BAXTON Bruxelles. We want to continue this artistic and human adventure.

Bára before the opening -performance of CORPUS a photographic exhibition by Aëla

In my photographic work I attempt to reflect on the body, its representations, its relationships with space and time, its particularities and its emotional power.

"...and then, as if the photographs would be embodied... three presences, moving through the space and time. Still and moving, still moving. An introduction to... maybe, a frame within a frame, or an ongoing series. A dance to photograph or a photograph to dance. A visual. A performance. Allocation of funds

As an artist I have a double role - I am a dancer and a photographer. I did a professional dance education and photography is something that came alongside from inside and has become a strong part of my artistic expression and identity. This project is very special to me. It is the first time that I combine the two with a team of two artists who are close to me. It is something that I need to do and have wanted to do for a long time.

Because of my double role I did not manage to get funding from the french subsidy system. When you are not belonging fully to either dance or photography in the system, it is very difficult to get support. For them one should fit in one frame. But that is not my reality. And it does not cut my desire and necessity to create.

This is why now I have decided to invite YOU, the people who follow my work, the people that care about my work, the people that wish for my work to continue to exist to support MOSI.

It would mean a lot for me if you support me for this creation. THANK YOU - MERCI

CONCRETE EXPENSES :

The crowdfunding will cover the costs of films, prints and developments .

Furthermore it will help us to cover a part of the production costs taken by the association LUCANE - including a part of the travel costs and a part of the salaries - plus charges - for the three artists.

THE TOTAL COSTS INCLUDES 8% to KISS KISS BANK BANK + THE CHARGES FOR COUNTERPARTS .

◈

If we achieve our goal, it will help us to do this research project without going into dept with our association.

If we exceed our goal and reach 4000€ - we can do this project in professional conditions with expenses and wages covered.

To live and work as an artist is beautiful but fragile.
