Peach, Teach for Peace

OUR VISION :

The Project is supported by the ESI Association: The aim is to introduce and educate children from an early age to ‘intercultural education’, creating and spreading a source of wealth, promoting open-mindedness resulting in greater solidarity and peace.

Indeed, in the current climate, tolerance, mutual understanding and respect are paramount to reducing conflicts between people.

As Nelson Mandela said : "Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world"

India, Children in a small village, 2013

MISSION :

- Create a link between classes from different countries in the world.

- Share with people who do not have the opportunity to travel.

- Promote cultural exchanges and assist in creating a dialogue between people involved.

HOW :

Create a link between classes from different countries of the world :

Firstly- by approaching remote schools and introducing them to a French class and secondly -develop this link between classes in various continents.

The goal is to create a digital correspondence in places where it is possible or handwritten correspondence in the most remote places (letters still are the best way to get to know each other!). We also want to create an exchange of books and stories between schools.

Burkina, 3rd year of Primary class at Ouagadougou, 2009

Create opportunities to learn new cultures for those who have not been able to travel :

Our project supports the association L’enfant@l’hôpital, which is also the first partnership that we created. For 30 years the "L’enfant@l’hôpital” Association has sent Educator Teams into schools throughout France, to assist children and teenagers hospitalized with illnesses or disabilities and / or learning disabilities.

- The association offers children and youth to interact with explorers through the internet, to train in computers, digital photography and also participate in workshops discovering writing, drawings and so forth.

- The association offers Kolibri software via its private internet platform, enabling cyber-reporters to send stories with photos, puzzles and personally interact with children from all over the world

Thereby, we will use the Kolibri tool in that purpose throughout the whole period of travel.

Exchange with different cultures and create a dialogue :

To do this we wanted to create educational tools promoting this exchange and that can be sustainable over time.

Realization of Educational Workshops based on two axes :

    - Discover the World : overview of countries, trades, quizzes and fun workshops.

    - One tale,The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint Exupéry

To begin with ESI launches the operation "Little Prince" of St Exupéry that will leave meet to 10 schools on 5 continents.

As a poetic tale, The Little Prince is loved for its childlike simplicity and profound wisdom. With a timeless charm it tells the story of a little boy who leaves the safety of his own tiny planet to travel the universe and learn from a series of extraordinary encounters. It contains reflections on topics such as friendship, love, imagination and individual... Subjects that speak to all ! Due to his success, it has been translated into more than 200 languages as Quechua (peruvian language) and Khmer (cambodian language).

Using a common tool in the various countries visited, is a real chance that will allow us to highlight and analyze the different points of view and reactions based on cultural codes and stories of each. It will be interesting to compare how in every culture children recognize values and how they apply this in their daily lives.

The Little Prince could be illustrated in every school of the countries visited. These images speak for themselves.

This book is a good starting point to initiate the sharing of tales between children in other countries. It offers a common tool for all mankind to open up to other cultures through their childhood and education.

The goal is to make an account of differences in perception of the children and learn more about ourselves and how to manage conflicts.

Cambodia, Prek Toal floating village, Environmental Education class, 2012

WHO :

Olivia Mouchet

33 years old, explorer through my bones, my humanistic values, my thirst for discovery and my good interpersonal skills have always motivated my choices and my meetings.

Coming from a large family whose structure is not the most common, the basis of my upbringing focused on love and sharing. I had the opportunity to go to a Montessori school, which pedagogy is based on the sensory and kinesthetic education of the child. The goal is to foster self-confidence, independence, while allowing the child to develop at his own pace and in complete freedom. This method of education really brought riches today and contributes greatly to the person I am. Moreover, the genius that was Roald Dahl rocked my childhood evenings from the age of 7 years. I think it also contributes to the fact that I think everything is possible. " And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it " Roald Dahl. Later, my studies have taken their course, and I had initiated various projects and worked in diverse and exciting projects. Throughout the beginning of my life (so far), I had the chance to have many unforgettable encounters and to learn a lot from my exchanges and travels. Today, I would like to share these experiences and build upon it to participate in the development of a more inclusive education throughout the world in order to ultimately promote peace. It is through all this that I am who I am today and I am passionaly dedicated to the growing importance of education for the future of our beautiful world.

The inspiration came to me in 2007 following the two days convention of Mr. Doudou Diène, former Director of the Division of Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue of Unesco. I was in the midst of my Master 2 studies specializing in Economy and Tourism Management for the Tourism Industry and Equitable Development. Since this unforgettable convention, I couldn’t stop thinking about what I could put into place to foster knowledge and sharing our cultures in order to live in peace.

Illustrated by Nancy Ekholm Burkert.

Marie Juillet

When I was a child, I wanted to be an illustrator for childrens books, maybe a writer or veterinarian in Africa. Today I’m in my 4th year of communication studies with a degree in Cultural, Policy and Institutional Communication. It was sometimes difficult to make choices and give up my childhood dreams, as crazy as they were ... But I am thrilled I chose communication. I saw that there was an opportunity to study what binds individuals together and above all, the opportunity to work in completely contrasting environments: advertising, politics, tourism, publishing, music, NGOs, environment ... I saw there an opportunity to realize some of my childhood dreams. And now, this new journey is already a great success!

Throughout my studies, I specialized in culture and with an added interest in art. To me, art is a universal vector, understood by all and a pleasure to admire. In 2014, still following this cultural axis that guided me, I lived through one of my best experiences. During the 4 months that I was living in a North Indian village at the foot of the Himalayas called Dal Lake, nearby was Mcledod Ganj village. I could witness both communities, Indian and Tibetan mingle daily with respect, despite the diversity of their culture and their religion. I worked in a French-Tibetan travel agency where I have written articles on the Indo-Tibetan culture and Buddhist philosophy of life.

Understanding each other is certainly what is most rewarding in the trip. The beautiful life experience brings me today to participate in this great project that is ESI and Teach!

SUPPORT :

Creating a platform for sharing

I plan on creating a platform to bring together school children that I encountered during my trip and to support the exchange and the sharing of knowledge of different cultures. A tool where would be identified to store writings, drawings and photos of the children enabling to discover for themselves, their mutual achievements. The goal is that they can exchange between them their lives, their traditions, sometimes through associations (for the most isolated populations and those that do not speak English) even without my presence. Most often their issues, as their common point, lies in the particularity of the place they’re living in, and it is very interesting and educating to see how they adapted their environment to a culture of their own. I hope that this tool will survive through time and that children will continue to exchange and share their daily lives for years.

Photography

Photo report on child labor, school life and organization based on the local culture, the natural environment, different lifestyles. The goal is to raise awareness through images, cultural vectors of their environment. Sharing these images to promote the encounter between peoples and knowledge of other cultures.

COMMUNICATION TOOL :

Blog, video, photo

Miscellany of the favorite tales of children we met around the world

Web documentary

Return:

Develop and maintain the links established between the different classes all over the world

Involve travellers to the project by arranging meetings, writings, but also donation of books and supplies.

It is very important that the project continues to thrive after we have left and continue to be used as an educational tool by the different schools. In that purpose, we will launch the project through the association, involving volunteers and travellers who wish to invest themselves. We will continue to maintain links and exchanges that have been established between the different classes, with the hope it will continue to live a long life

Event: An Exhibition in Paris (photos, draws, meetings…)

THEY SUPPORT US :

Our project is currently supported by Marco Vasco, Sachs Visa Legalization, and UniKite companies, and in addition by the association L’enfant@l’hôpital. We are continuing to work on expanding our partnerships at this moment.

THANK YOU for helping us realize this beautiful dream of a lifetime.

Cambodia, Tonle Sap Lake, Prek Toal floating village, 2012

Allocation of funds

To this day, we already collected the amount of 15 000 € to launch the project, and we are extremely grateful of the support and trust of our partners.

However in ordr to achieve the goal of our project we require an additional 8 575 €.

We made the decision to try and raise 5 000 € via the Kiss Kiss platform to finance the operation "Little Prince" and to contribute towards the costs related to the project success (equipment and administrative fees). The current travel expenses are currently coverd by the money we already raised. But it is in the heart of the project that we need your support.

The crowdfunding will be used to finance a part of the Little Prince outlay:

- Equipment

- Creation of workshops

- Purchase of books and tales

- Costs related to the establishment of trades between classes

Spending will spread regularly throughout the duration of the project.

Estimated budget :

Trip costs: 5 500 €

Accommodation costs: 5 192 €

Food expenses: 4 450 €

Equipment, hardware: 3,000 €

Formalities, administrative fees and other costs: 1 158 €

Books for children:1 250 €

Costs related to the implementation of exchanges (routing): 550 €

Costs related to the establishment of exchanges (translation, interpreter): 1 500 €

Communication fees: 975 €

TOTAL : 23 575 €

Already raised: 15 000 €

Short by: 8 575 €

Kiss Kiss Bank Bank target: 5000 €

IF WE RAISE MORE ?

This will allow us:

- To buy more supplies for schools

- To develop the project with new schools

- To finance the exhibition in Paris

- Once we have identified and targeted the needs according to each school, we can fund other actions beneficial to the functioning and well-being of children to support their learning in optimal conditions.

Thanks again.
