Who we are ? - Team introduction

Our team is composed of six students at Sorbonne Nouvelle University where we study art and museology. Currently in the final year of a Bachelor's degree, we have the opportunity to develop a cultural action and set up our own project. Mainly interested by the museum world, we have a common desire to spread culture. Thus, we formed our team with the aim of organizing an accessible and dynamic exhibition. Drinking coffee every day, we had the idea to make this drink the theme of our exhibition. But what could an exhibition about coffee teach us?

The legends of coffee: yes, but why?

Today, we primarily know coffee as a consumer product, the object of a globalized trade. This drink is part of the daily lives of many people, but it's often forgotten that coffee is also a heritage product, surrounded by know-how and mythical anecdotes. Indeed, coffee has a very rich history: from the plains of Ethiopia where it was discovered, it has been able to be exported all over the world and, knowing how to satisfy its followers after centuries, it always has its place on our counters. The history of coffee, sometimes blurred, is also the subject of wonderful tales that we don't really know. It's these legends that "Raconte moi le café" wants to introduce through a friendly exhibition, where the visitors will be able to talk over coffee.

The exhibition : Raconte moi le café

Between the walls of the Delirio, near the Place de la Bastille, the exhibition will bring together a dozen artists from diverse backgrounds. The artists recounted the legends of the coffee in their own way and through various supports; from painting to photography, passing through Design Mode. We will be transported to the Middle East, the land of origin of coffee, but also to Africa and Asia to trace some snippets of its journey in the world and in time. In parallel with the exhibition, visitors will be able to write or draw their own stories and share it on our "legends tree", an handmade participative tree. We also hope to benefit from the help of a storyteller and punctuate the event with some activities around coffee and roasting

Located in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, near the Place de la Bastille, Delirio will host the exhibition for three days. Delirio has an innovative concept: you can drink good coffee but also good wine, in an atmosphere which invites you to relax and travel. Indeed, the interiors of the Delirio give us the impression of being outside, on vacation in the heart of nature, far from the tumultuous Parisian life. This establishment isn't only dedicated to the consumption of coffee (or wine): the small producers and processes of transformation of the coffee are honored, the grains are roasted before your eyes and the baristas advise you according to your tastes. The atmosphere of Delirio will ideally accompany the discovery of the legends of coffee. Thanks to its exotic decorations and its interest in this drink and its universe, Delirio offers a warm atmosphere, ideal for a convivial exhibition.
