SABOR, Lisbon's new neighbourhood grocery store

Who are we? We're Bryce and Olivia. Lovers of good food since 1995 and lovers of each other for 10 years, we grew up under the sun of the French Riviera. After 5 years of exciting professional life in Paris, we're back in the sun, as an evidence, by moving to Lisbon, Portugal. Passionate about know-how and its preservation, Olivia spent 4 years working for luxury brands (Dior, Chanel...) before joining the vibrant world of start-ups as a Marketing Director. Always smiling, she loves making new connections. Curious and a jack-of-all-trades, Bryce discovered the different sectors and departments of big groups (Hermès, Carlsberg...) before specializing in customer relationship in smaller structures. He loves cooking and eating good food! We've been in Lisbon for 2 years now, and we've been actively thinking about creating a project that's full of meaning, with a strong human and ecological impact, and that can create value in the local landscape. Opening a grocery store was an obvious choice, and we'll tell you why... What is Sabor? Sabor is Portuguese for "flavor". It's our answer to the growing demand for good food in Lisbon. Our observation: when we moved to Lisbon, we couldn't find a place that offered good, fresh and seasonal products to do grocery shopping. When we visited Portugal, we discovered its agricultural and culinary richness, and the profusion of small producers who grow their fruits and vegetables with respect for the land and the rhythm of the seasons, but we couldn't find this quality in shops around us. After several surveys with the expatriate community in Lisbon and directly with Lisboners, we noticed a strong desire to eat better, but that the current offer on the market didn't meet this demand. The desire to create our own grocery store was born. ✨ Our answer: Sabor is a neighborhood grocery store that allows Lisbon residents to enjoy their daily shopping with quality and tasty products. All in a warm and welcoming shop. Our 2 pillars: 1) A meticulous selection We have chosen our partners one by one and tasted all the fruits, vegetables and products we offer, in order to provide our customers with the highest quality, traceability and, above all, flavor. 2) Working for health and "bien manger" Eating in season means (re)discovering the great taste of products. Seasonality respects nature's cycles to meet our dietary needs. So, just as we put on a t-shirt in summer and a sweater in winter, let's adapt our alimentation! What can you find at Sabor? Fruits 🍓 and vegetables 🥬 in season, grown sustainably or organically and sourced from passionate Portuguese producers. Raquel's crunchy salads, Anna and David's sweet beets.... Good cheeses 🧀 French and Portuguese. Marcel Petite 24-month matured Comté is to die for! Dairy products 🥛 and ultra-fresh organic eggs 🥚 from Hortas da Rainha regenerative farm. Charcuterie 🐷 from France and Portugal: black pork from Alentejo, pâtés from the Basque country, French white ham (still hard to find in Lisbon)... Savory and sweet grocery products 🍯: organic pasta, legumes, cereals, ancient flours, broths (artisanal and made in very small quantities by Dohatsu), jams, honey, preserves... A selection of wines 🍷 we worked hand in hand with Senhor Uva's wine cellar, ciders, lemonade... And plenty of other surprises to discover! And the price? We make it a point of honor to ensure that this offer is at the RIGHT price for all stakeholders. To achieve this, we have chosen to source directly from our producers and partners, to cut out distribution intermediaries and additional margins. By making this choice, we are able to offer an entirely organic or sustainable product range, which compensates its partners fairly, while at the same time offering it to our customers at an attractive price. This way, everyone wins! Where can we be found? After months of searching for the perfect space, we found it in Campo de Ourique. Why this district? It's the residential and commercial district by excellence. In terms of population, it's obviously populated by Portuguese, but also by expatriates, many French and young families. We often associate it with a "village in the city". Next door, you'll find a French patisserie, a French butcher and, a little further on, the Lycée Français. You'll understand why the area has been renamed "the French district"...! The shop is in a magnificent 19th-century small building, the façade is decorated with the famous Portuguese tiles, azulejos, and inside the store, there is a superb wall of powder-pink marble. You'll have understood that this is the dream location, full of charm. Cherry on the cake: the 100m2 space, enough to welcome you all! We're currently working to renovate the space and open our doors in early June! We can't wait to show you our great products. 💚
