SAUVETAGE DU MANÈGE DE PETIT PIERRE - MUSÉE DE LA FABULOSERIE

The Manège of Petit Pierre’s Eiffel Tower is in danger of collapse : be part of the second life saving of this “hors-norme” and unique artwork.

THE EIFFEL TOWER : A 23 METERS HIGH RESPONSIBILITY TO SHARE WITH YOU

FOR THE PAST 32 YEARS, LA FABULOSERIE HAS PRESERVED IN ITS INHABITED GARDEN LE MANÈGE DE PETIT PIERRE.

La Fabuloserie, which opened in 1983 to the public, was devised and completed by the architect Alain Bourbonnais so as to shelter his collection of “hors-les-normes art”.

This appellation was suggested to Alain Bourbonnais by Jean Dubuffet, who wanted the name of “art brut” to be reserved for his own collection. It refers to out of the ordinary creations made by self-taught artists.

After opening a gallery, the Atelier Jacob, in Paris, Alain Bourbonnais decided to create, with his wife Caroline, a museum he called “La Fabuloserie”. It is composed of a “museum-house” in which over a thousand works are exhibited, ranging from the drawings by Yanko Domsic to the “bourrages” (characters made of stuffed body stockings) by Francis Marshall, and the amazing series of “Turbulents” by Alain Bourbonnais himself. An open-air museum, called “the inhabited garden”, displays the sculptures of “habitants-paysagistes” (inhabitants/landscape-artists): Camille Vidal, Jules Damloup, Jean Bertholle’s weather vanes and Petit Pierre with his astonishing “manège” (merry-go-round).

2021 SAVING : PHASES OF THE PROJECT

Cyril Choux, a craftsman specialized in work-at-height with pruning/ climbing skills, has been working for several years in the inhabited garden of La Fabuloserie. Since he participated to the cable-stayed of the Eiffel Tower, Mr. Choux feels concerned about its conservation, and warned us in January about its alarming state.

The raising of 25,000 euros will finance the entire project

The work is planned for early May 2021 and the duration of the intervention is estimated at 10 days.
