TERRES D'HÉRITAGES : course de relais d'un bouclier antique sur le littoral PACA

We are the Sômaskia club, Terre d'Heritages is our project and we need your support! Terre d'Héritage - What is it ? It's a sporting and cultural project that aims to promote the heritage, players and region of the PACA region in the week leading up to the arrival of the flame in Marseille. It is part of the dynamic of the forthcoming Olympic Games and has been recognised and labelled a Cultural Olympiad. Terre d'Héritage - When ? It takes the form of a relay race, equipped and passed from runner to runner with an archaeological reproduction of an ancient shield. The riders are local and national sportsmen and women. They will follow each other over a 241km route, from the Trophée d'Auguste in La Turbie, to the Vieu-Port in Marseille, from 30 April to 5 May, passing through historic and cultural sites of interest. This exceptional route will be punctuated by costumed mediation events organised by the partner association Somathophylaques, on the theme of Greek Antiquity. [Photo - Démonstration sur les sports antique de l'association Somatophylaques] Terre d'Héritage - The symbol By arriving in the city of Marseille on 5 May, we are ensuring continuity between the laying down of arms (symbol of the sacred truce) and the start of the games represented by the flame on its arrival in the same city on 8 May. We make the link between ancient and modern games, history and sport, conflicts and truces. The project aims to be inclusive by opening it up to disabled athletes, with several disabled sports institutions and a number of Paralympic athletes, such as Aladji Bâ, having already signed up to wear the shield. The shield will be on display at the Centre de la Vieille Charité in Marseille, so don't hesitate to come and see it! Sômaskia - Who are we? Sômaskia is a Historical Pentathlon club affiliated to the FFPM. Founded at the end of 2022 in La Seyne-sur-Mer, its activities are based on the practice of the ancient pentathlon and the two-handed sword, and extend as far as the Aix-en-Provence campus.
