More than 60% of the packages sent already !!

Hello

Someone leaft a comment asking for an update on the project....

We finally received the vinyl at the very end of August, finally !

They're beautiful and sound great, everyone is very happy.

We should have sent everything during August, but its finally happening in september and we don't have as much time as during the summer... but we've already sent more than 60% of the packages. Only a bit less than 80 people to serve...

So please be patient, it's coming ! 70/80 packages left to do, Djouls is doing 10/20 everyday, with a lot of protection on the postal packagings...

For some, we're still missing the shipping address, the choice of 45s, the t-shirt size or the missing shipping costs. We're still awaiting an answer from :
- Janne Lindholm
- Philippe Massonnat
- Marc Amigone
- Jamie Page
- Algor Lieman
- François Lanneau
- Pascal Armand
- Dimitri Kogan
- Charles Cayeux
- Paulo Vinicius
- Richard Garrell

To conclude, here are a few photos of the marvels we've been able to manufacture & press thanks to you :-)

Paris DJs - News from your t-shirts, vinyl, posters, etc.

We're receiving a lot of messages asking "so where's my boxset at?", "I still haven't received my records" and others "have you already sent the vinyl?". Well we haven't started sending anything alas. Here's where we're at :

VINYL

"Test-pressing" phase was 2/3 weeks ago, we're waiting for the final vinyl, which shouldn't be too long now... Supposed to land at Paris DJs in august. We hope everything will go smoothly, the wait is long for us too!

T-SHIRTS

They arrived this week, and we're very happy with the quality and printing. They're superb, we can't wait to start shipping them out... and to start seeing some nice selfies posted! :-) We should start shipping the t-shirts - for those who didn't order vinyl - next week. Only a handful are left out of the 100 we're manufacturing, in sizes M & L only...

Here's The Lone Ranger showing off his Paris DJs t-shirt (and his "Fever" 45)

45T BOXSETS

The boxsets have arrived - empty so far but they're beautiful !

We finally managed go get 130 copies printed.

100 were pre-ordered, 95 through crowdfunding (70€ a piece), 5 on bandcamp direct-to-fan a month later (100€ each).

15 copies are reserved for the artists, the label, the manufacturers, the designer...

Finally, the 15 last copies will be on sale at a selection of record store we've been working with for a long time : Betino's, Le Silence de la Rue & Superfly Records in Paris, Juno & HHV online.

POSTERS

The available stocks in Paris are low, we're waiting for a pacage from Ben Hito in order to be able to ship out to everyboby concerned. Mais most of the orders are ready. Tubes for shipping the posters have been ordered, we'll start the shipping end of next week, as soon as we receive those tubes.

DIGITAL COMPILATION

We must admit we made a lot of small mistakes along the way of the crowdfunding campaign, which was a first for us. Our last mistake just appeared: in the right column we indicated a digital compilation of 14 tunes, but the compilation is the same as the double vinyl, and is only 12 tracks long, as we indicated in the center colum, in the tracklisting and detailed text...

It doesn't make sense for us to add two "bonus tracks" at the end of the digital compilation, which whouldn't sound the same, with not the same mastering as the rest of the comp... So for those who ordred the digital comp without ordering vinyl will be able to ask us two tunes of their choice in the Paris DJs discography to compensate.

The digital compilation is ready, we're waiting for the vinyl to start sending it, but the more impatient can contact us to grab it now :-)

WHAT ELSE ?

The next Paris DJs compilation (a Funk/Soul one) is in the mastering phase... Out very soon and it's heavy shit!! It's included in the "9 compilations" set, so those who opted for this lot will get it as soon as this nw Funk/Soul compilations is ready for pre-order... We're thinking of an august 18 date right now but not completely sure...

We also have many new singles coming, some Hip Hop, some Reggae, some Ska, some Afrofunk & Afrobeat, some Soul, some Jazz.... All the bombing tunes we've been cooking secretely since the beginning of the year! If all goes well, we should be back with a second 45 boxset, strictly limited once again, for the end of the year gifts! And meanwhile we're preparing a collection of new t-shirts to follow up on the heavy demand on the first series of only 100 :-)

Many good things coming....

cheers

Emails sent !

Hello everyone

We think we've sent all the emails in order to ask :

- if you've opted for a hand-delivery in Paris (at the Betino's Record Store on a special signing day or elsewhere in Paris)

- the possible missing shipping costs

- the address for the delivery

- the size and kind of T-shirt for those who got themselves for a T-shirt (S, M, L, XL, and man or woman)

- the choice of 45s for those who took a choice of 1, 2 or three 45s

- the choice of 5 additional Phabao 45s out of the 6 proposed

Now, we go on with the last touches on the artworks (insert of the double LP, back cover, generic 45s color sleeves, thanks, inside of the boxset...) while Phabao finished the masters for the vinyl and digital for the 45s and the compilation.

We should get the money from the campaign in a week and then launch the pressings.

Don't hesitate to contact us for any question !

cheers

The thing with signed records

Already 92 backers for 49% of the goal reached - THANKS TO ALL WHO ARE PARTICIPATING !!

Now let's talk a bit about that signed records bundle...

Signed records are something very special.

One day while going through Loik's amazingly extensive record collection, we stumbled upon an early 70s original LP from The Pharaohs, signed by one of the members of the band and saying something like "to my friend Raashan Roland Kirk".

[For those not in the know, here are some Wikipedia links to The Pharaos and Raashan Roland Kirk]

That particular LP is nothing like any other copy of the same LP. It has a whole story behind it. From its pressing to the hands of Raashan Roland Kirk, ending in Loik's record collection. Vinyl lovers will start to imagine the travels of this LP from the early 70s in the US up to now in Paris...

Since that day, I've been getting my records signed. By artists coming to Paris DJs' studio, by artists I meet at their shows, even some artists who crowdfund their vinyl pressing and do a special event in Paris for the release (we're gonna do the same if this campaign's a success, thanks to Sandra Nkaké for the inspiration!).

At the beginning some were replying that signing records wasn't something they were doing, so I found a catch. I tell them each time that "the day I retire (from music), I'm gonna do a mix of signed records", which is kind of an ultimate argument. Artists smile to that argument and then gladly sign their records with a special note.

I won't be a pretentious prick and list you all the records I managed to get signed (that might be for the day I retire... just kidding), but I must admit I've started to become quite proud of my signed records collection - and of all the stories that go along with each of those signed records!

...which gets me to the point of this news :

Only 2 out of 5 are left of the 45 boxset, double LP, and signed record bundle!!

A few people emailed already asking if we could reserve a copy for them... Well this is for real!

We only have 8 copies left of the "Message To You Rudy" 12 inch by Grant Phabao, The Lone Ranger & Calrton Livingston.

5 for this campaign, the 3 others for Grant Phabao, myself and a spare copy for playing in vinyl sets.

It was printed in 2006 at 500 copies, no repress, and sold out in a few weeks at the time.

The extended version of the tune (and its dub on the b-side) only exist in this vinyl 12 inch form.

It's the one featured in the 2014 Jon Favreau movie "Chef".

It really is something of a rare piece while also a dancefloor filler!

The "Fever" 45 from Grant Phabao & The Lone Ranger was pressed in Jamaica at 300 copies only, a few years back. Only a few dozens are still in stock. 20 copies were signed by The Lone Ranger, last time he came to visit us. 10 were sent to Juno Records (all sold instantly). 5 were available in this campaign (2 are left). And 5 were given to The Lone Ranger to give to friends on his tour. I didn't even keep a signed copy for myself... but since it's a record I released and I still have a few copies left there's no point.

Now if you're one of the 5 backers trying to get your hands on one those signed records bundle, you'll also have a whole story to tell!! ;-)

"MB’s Paris homies Paris Djs (DJouls and Grant Phabao to you) are at it again only this time from a wax angle! Yep they’re out to raise money for not one but two vinyl projects! The Vinyl Is Good For You 6 x 45s box set features: Afrodyete (The Breakestra), Alice Russell (courtesy of Tru Thoughts), Brownout, Grant Phabao, Jungle Fire, The Lone Ranger & Carlton Livingston and The Jays. As Paris DJs put it – “it’s all about reggae, rub-a-dub and ska” – oh yeah “with a few latin funk breaks” just for good measure.
