Don de lumière

The "Don de lumière" project : Buy solar kits to allow children in a small Cameroonian village to have access to light, so that they can do their homework after dark. The first stage of the "Don de lumière" project aims to equip at least 20 families with solar kits in the small village of Nkol Ohandja! The main objective of the "Gift of Light" is to allow children to be able to do their homework and study when night has fallen, but the benefits go far beyond the children's schooling, as parents too. will be able to benefit from the benefits of light at night to cook, do household chores, finish or plan their work, organize their fishing equipment or their agricultural tools, or even simply to spend time with family in the evening! With your help, the lives of families across an entire village will be transformed, from the little ones to the big ones! Situation géographique du village de Nkol Ohandja The village of Nkol Ohandja is part of the commune of Evodoula, department of Lekié located in the Center region of Cameroon. The small village of Nkol Ohandja is one of the 35 small villages that depend on the commune of Evodoula. The village of Nkol Ohandja was selected on the spot by our partner upOwa as being the first village to benefit from the "Don de lumière", on the following 2 criteria: The isolation and extreme poverty of the villagers do not allow them to access electricity, which creates difficulties for the children to do their homework and consequently, to stay focused on their studies. The small size of this village, which consists of about 60 families, or about 300 people. Indeed, it allows the Dona Beatriz association to invest in an objectively achievable project and, also, to maintain over time, the motivation and the involvement of the volunteer teams around this magnificent project. The solar kit - some technical specifications Solar Kits installed in homes are the Flash model. This is a kit with more than 24 hours of autonomy which consists of 3 LED lights, 1 battery, 1 solar panel and 1 phone charger. In 2019, the Dona Beatriz association signs a partnership with UpOwa, a grenobloise company present in Cameroon that operates in electricity -scarce areas. The goal of this partnership is to equip 2 small villages of about 50 families each : Nkol Ohandja and Avoh, which are located in the Central region of Cameroon. In 2020, Dona Beatriz will make the first "Light Donation" to five families in the small village of Nkol Ohandja. Which represents at least 25 people who today benefit from electricity, thanks to this first “Light Donation”. link to the villagers' thank you video : In 2021, the Dona Beatriz association wants to go further. It is organizing a crowdfunding campaign, the "Gift of light", with the aim of equipping all the houses in the village of Nkol Ohandja by the end of 2022! Social and educational context in Cameroon Today, one in five (20%) people still do not have access to electricity on our planet, which means that their laptops are destitute, they live in the black every day after the crippling and do not benefit no opportunities to offer the new digital world. 600 million people live without electricity in Africa. In Cameroon, there are more than 10 million people who do not have access to electricity, while millions of others have access but in a very unstable way, remaining hours, seeing days without electricity. For these people, access to electricity is the assurance of a better quality of life so when people learn that they can continue to read, cook or study once the night falls thanks to the electricity printed on the spot, generated by the rays of the sun, the attention immediately became more alive in the population. In Cameroon, 37.5 % of the population today remains in poverty. People over 16 without any form of education represent 63% of the poorest 40% of the population. The action took place in France and Cameroon Dona Beatriz in France Dona Beatriz, a French general interest association created in 2018, whose main vocation is the fight against illiteracy, organizing, setting up and financing actions, such as the crowdfunding campaign "Don de lumière" to raise funds which will allow the purchase of solar kits. And the volunteers Dona Beatriz involved in the project UpOwa in Cameroon Created in 2014 in France, UpOwa, a large -scale enterprise, designs, manufactures, distributes and installs solar solutions adapted to poorly served areas by public power networks in sub -Saharan Africa. As part of the partnership, the Dona Beatriz association raises funds and acquires solar kits at upOwa. UpOwa, acts as the on-site operations coordinator, in charge of installing solar kits and after-sales service to the villagers. Joël LITSÉ- Cameroonian photographer and our upowa contact on site Brève biography of the artist Born on November 24, 1989, in Yaoundé, responsible for the artistic part of the project (photos and videos). He is originally from the Far North. Very soon carried away by the wind of football, Joël joined a football team in Tunisia. During a sporting season, he had a double fracture. During his convalescence, he takes on the habit of assisting his local photographer. It is through this assistance that Joel has a passion for photography. Returning to Cameroon, he developed his career as a photographer, and will always remain sensitive to photos of landscapes and his compatriots. The budget of the campaign to equip 20 families (about 120 people): • 20 solar kits, Flash model at € 180 per unit = 3,600 euros • Joel Litsé Artistic Fees: 1,000 euros • % Commission KKBB: 368 euros Total budget: 4,968 euros

Allocation of funds

Purchase, installation and commissioning of solar kits for 20 families in the village of Nkol Ohandja. € 180 euros is equivalent to the purchase, installation and commissioning of 1 solar kit for a whole family, and gives access to electricity on average to 6 people (2 adults and 4 children)! What if we exceed our target? To guarantee the success of the campaign as much as possible, we have set ourselves as the 1st level, to equip half of the village of Nkol Ohandja (slowly but surely) ... And if, luckily, we obtained more than the amount requested, then we could install more kits than planned and thus, gradually get closer to our 2nd level and final objective, namely to equip the whole village with kits solar, the 100% "Gift of light"! In total, the village has 60 houses, or about 300 inhabitants, including 5 families that we have already equipped with solar kits. For this crowdfunding campaign, 100% of our first target level is equivalent to equipping 20 additional houses, so we will still have half of the village to equip during a second campaign that will be launched in the second half of the year 2022.
