Who Are We? Les Atelier de Pomau (Pomau Workshops) is a French business created by Alexandra and Kéva, a couple of artisans working out of the South West of France. Our first collection of engraved blades will be composed of kitchen knives. Our handles will be made of ethically sourced exotic wood, and our blades of stainless steel. Outside of this first collection, we will not limit ourselves to kitchen cutlery. As real jacks-of-all-creative-trades, we will extend our artisanal production towards many different crafts, like jewelry and marquetry, hence the name of Workshops. The Knives of Les Ateliers de Pomau Our Story Les Ateliers de Pomau is the fruit of a passion for art and craftsmanship, shared by Alexandra and Kéva. Kéva opened a blacksmith shop in Martinique in 2015. He grew his business and developed his craft for 7 years. Over the years, he developed his own engraving technique. After making a name for himself on the island, he decided to close indefinitely to move to France and start his business anew with his knowledge. Alexandra, originally from Quebec, is an experienced illustrator, and a knifemaker trained by her partner. On top of the knife work, she brings her personal touch to the workshop with her creative spirit and by drawing original patterns for the engravings. 2022 Collection Wood For this first collection, the Mahogany comes from a surplus of construction wood recovered about 40 years ago in the commune of Lamentin in Martinique. The Pau Amarello, younger, was recovered about 10 years ago from a sawmill with a sustainable and eco-responsible approach. Drawings This collection consists of 20 drawings: 10 for GEOMETREK and 10 for GEOMETRIA. As you might have guessed, we have chosen to go with a Geometric theme for this collection. GEOMETREK (Kitchen, Chef, and Celebration Knives) For the Chef and Kitchen knives, every pattern is engraved on a maximum of 5 knives each. The certificate of authenticity for the Kitchen and Chef knives will then be numbered from 1/5 to 5/5. For the Celebration Knives, a single pattern is only used once. The certificate of authenticity for this knife will be numbered 1/1. GEOMETRIA (Premium Trio) For these knives, a single pattern is used once and applied to all three knives of the trio. The certificate of authenticity is therefore unique for each trio. Celebration Knife Originally made to cut cheese wheels, this large piece is also ideal for celebrating. Use it to cut your wedding cake, or impress your guests when you use it to saber a bottle of champagne. A sharpened blade will be optional for this knife, depending on your desired usage.
